Blockbuster Disclosure—The QCS Standard Material R&D Center Conducted the Inaugural 400MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Power-on Ceremony

Time:2023-04-14

Opening Ceremony of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory

Recently, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Laboratory constructed by Quality Control Solutions Ltd. (QCS) was officially inaugurated at the QCS Standard Material Research and Development Center located in Shenchengtou Life Science Park, Pingshan District. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Wenfei Tan, Special Consultant of QCS; Mr. Lai, General Manager; Mr. Qiu, General Manager; and Mr. Xu, Sales Director of ChemStrong Group. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Yang Li from the QCS R&D Center.

Dr. Wenfei Tan, Special Consultant of QCS, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the theme of "Medicine Life". He shared over two decades of valuable experience and insights from his career in the pharmaceutical industry, outlined the strategic goals and future prospects of the QCS Standard Substances Research and Development Center, and expressed his anticipation for collaborating with relevant stakeholders to establish a world-class drug quality control R&D platform. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of enhancing innovation capacity within the pharmaceutical standards industry.

General Manager Mr. Lai of ChemStrong Group delivered a congratulatory address marking the official launch of the nuclear magnetic resonance laboratory at the QCS R&D Center. He stated that the Group will provide comprehensive support to the R&D Center in areas such as capital investment, talent acquisition, and technological advancement. The Group anticipates that the R&D Center will leverage nuclear magnetic resonance technology to significantly enhance its research and development capabilities, expand external collaborations, and accelerate the development of an integrated quality control research service platform.

Dr. Yang Li from the QCS R&D Center provided a concise overview of the current status of the center. He stated, "The QCS R&D Center occupies an area of approximately 2,000 square meters and is equipped with over 50 state-of-the-art instruments and devices. The center employs more than 50 staff members, of whom over 30% hold master's degrees or higher. Focusing on pharmaceutical-related substances, the R&D center has established three core technology platforms: synthesis customization, analysis and detection, and preparation and separation. The recent acquisition of a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer will address existing limitations in nuclear magnetic resonance qualitative and quantitative research, particularly enhancing our capabilities in product structure confirmation and content verification.

It is reported that the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer is a sophisticated and widely utilized instrument in pharmaceutical research and development, education, scientific research, industrial production, healthcare, and other fields. It offers advantages such as accuracy, speed, high resolution, and non-destructive sample analysis. The NMR spectrometer is one of the most powerful tools for confirming the structure of organic compounds. Notably, quantitative NMR, which is based on NMR spectroscopy, has become the recommended method by the United States Pharmacopeia for product content confirmation. However, due to its high cost and expensive daily operation and maintenance expenses, the number of NMR spectrometers in China is limited, leading users to adopt a sample submission model for testing.

As a crucial qualitative and quantitative tool for standard products, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology provides detailed information on molecular chemical structures and dynamics. It has become an essential technique for molecular structure analysis and characterization of the physicochemical properties of substances. The QCS Standard Material Research and Development Center has recently acquired a state-of-the-art AVANCE NEO 400 MHz fully digital superconducting NMR spectrometer from Bruker Corporation in Switzerland, valued at over 3 million yuan. We anticipate that the official operation of this advanced NMR facility will significantly enhance our center's research and development efficiency, providing robust support for the synthesis and structural identification of complex compounds as well as production processes.

Finally, the nuclear magnetic opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Wenfei Tan, Special Consultant of QCS; Mr. Lai, General Manager; Mr. Qiu, General Manager; Mr. Xu, Sales Director of ChemStrong Group; Dr. Yang Li from the QCS R&D Center, along with other representatives from the Group.

Openness and Collaboration

Through the concerted efforts of our center and BRUKER Company, the 400 MHz NMR spectrometer has successfully completed its installation and commissioning. It has now officially entered the operational phase and is ready to accept samples. This instrument is capable of detecting NMR spectra for a variety of nuclides, including but not limited to 1H, 13C, 31P, and 19F. Additionally, it can acquire one-dimensional spectra such as those of hydrogen and carbon nuclei (e.g., 1H, 13C, DEPT). For structural analysis of organic compounds, the device supports the detection of two-dimensional homonuclear and heteronuclear correlation spectra, including COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and NOESY.

The instrument is located in Room 402 of Building B3 at Shenchengtou Life Science Park. Our dedicated specialist handles the operation of this equipment. Before sending your samples for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis, please ensure you complete the application form. We ask that sample purity exceeds 95%, and that samples are free from any contaminants like iron filings, dust, or filter paper fibers. For general organic compounds, we require a minimum of 5 mg for 1H NMR spectra and 15 mg for 13C NMR spectra.

We warmly invite you to visit our facility and explore collaboration opportunities with us!
